Comment: We were honored to know Jerry. He fought hard and long to survive and Betty was constantly by his side. He reminded us to pray for him as he could use the extra help, we did. Jerry was our hero, mentor and friend and we looked to him for help and advice as we continued in the Quarter Horse Industry.

Comment: I always enjoyed a visit with both you and Jerry. Your devotion to each other was inspiring. Jerry was quietly respectful and many others can gain from his demeanor. He also could make me laugh with some of his stories. He will be missed.

Comment: Jerry Wells was a huge part of my life. My family had the pleasure of owning Merganser with the Wells'. At age 12, I was the only one that "knew" Mergy would win the All-American. I might have known better if I were older and wiser.
Jerry was a living legend and I feel lucky to have been able to share the joys of owning the World Champion race horse with him. I used to get chills watching him talk to the horses and what he saw in them. He truly had a gift.
Love, Marci Shalz

Comment: We have always had respect for Jerry as a horseman and friend like no other. He always went out of his way to say hello, and make you feel as if you were special to him. As Breeders, we made it apoint to stay on Jerry's bandwagon, with whatever stud he was promoting. By the mere fact that Jerry promoted them, the get were always saleable and successful. Raising Mr. Conclusion was a direct result of that following.

Comment: Mrs. Wells and Family: Mr. Wells was a true inspiration to me as a youth in the late 70's. I showed a wonderful Boston Mac mare that you were kind enough to feature in a Journal ad. To me, Jerry Wells was a consummate horseman, and I observed him in the showring at every opportunity; I learned a great deal. The equine community has lost one of our true greats, but we are all the better for having him touch our lives.
