Comment: OK. One for the road ....
I grew some field corn one year to feed the chickens in the winter.
They didn't have a barn with other livestock so it was a bit cold in the chicken house in a Michigan winter.
Took tons of food to feed them and they gave up laying eggs. Preferred to stay warm ?
I harvested corn a little early. It fermented in the bag and caught fire.
Hate to mention it ... Michigan has a 3 million deer herd. Venison is quite nice. Tastes like chicken.

Comment: Now listen Dennis,
How do you expect to tell cool stories in only 500 characters.
I used to keep chickens at my place in Michigan.
Poor buggers froze on the perch one year.
Them fresh eggs are lovely though.
My kids are like your animals. I let them roam all over the place.
I wouldn 't let a chicken in my houe.
You can do what you like.
