Comment: Found your site while browsing for information concerning the Ropes family of Salem, Mass., and their involvement in the Ice Trade and, in particular that of "The Wenham Lake Ice Company." Your site has been most helpful and interesting - a real pleasure to visit! many thanks, Patrick A Kavanagh (Liverpool.)

Comment: Hello Mr. Round. We like your video and website. We learned a whole bunch about ice harvesting from you. Our class just finished reading "Cocoa Ice " by Diana Appelbaum. Thanks for sharing all of your wonderful information with us in Tucson, Arizona. Have a great spring!

Comment: Hi, I found your fine site while looking for supporting material on an 1890 article I posted on my blog, Yesterday's News. Thought you might find this account of a Minneapolis ice harvest interesting:

Jan. 24, 1890: The ice harvest

Comment: What an awesome site! You have a ton of information! I love the articles, old photos and demonstation video. The links look good too but I have not had a chance to check them out yet.
I live on Old Mission Peninsula, north of bTraverse City, Michigan. We have an old ice house we are trying to restore as part of a 1842 historical site, the Peter Dougherty House.
It was so great to happen across your experiences.
Thank you.

Comment: Sir: I am in Barrington, visiting my daughter. This article is of particular interest to me, because I believe that if you apply modern technology to pre-electricity methods, they can be revived as low energy systems. I have some ideas on how winter ice can be used again, without the hassles of harvesting or transport. If you are interested, please call me on my cellphone No. 401 556 0800.

Comment: I'm a 3rd grade reading teacher in Georgia. Our class read a historical fiction story. Your site was a great resource for my class. The story talked about how ice and cocoa beans were harvested, etc. It wasn't hard to find information on cocoa, but harvesting ice was a different story! Thanks! We all enjoyed it!
