Comment: This is a fantastic project for you to be involved in. My husband is a descendent of William Dodge who came to this country on The Lyon's Whelp in 1629. We look forward to seeing this project completed

Comment: Just recently traced family directly back to
Ralph Sprague who came over on Lyon's Whelp.
I am amazed that the ship still exists. Will follow
her progress. Good luck

Comment: Have been following our elder Sprague (William) from England to Mass in 1629 and discovered your site while searching "Lion's Whelp" on Ask Jeeves.Com. Do you have any other historical information on the Original vessel? Or point me to other resources? Thanks. God Bless your latest venture.

Comment: had the good fortune of sailing with Phinny
Sprague, and of his guiding me on tours of both
Lion's Whelp and Prowess. Have enjoyed seeing
the pictures here, and look forward to following
progress of the project online. What a pleasure
it is to see so fine a vessel in all her states
of undress!

Comment: Hi! I was searching for information on the Lion's Whelp, a vessel on which my ggggggggreat grandfather William Sprague supposedly crossed the Atlantic from Dorset to Salem. And I found your site, and there's a message here from a Sprague! Just a coincidence? I don't think so.....

Comment: My ancestior left Gravesend England in the spring of 1628 on the ship,"The Lion's Whelp, bound for Salem. He arrived later in the summer and moved to Boston. One shoe-string relative, Mercy Disbrow was convicted of being a witch, but pardoned. Do you have any information on this early ship's name or can you tell me where to look for early information?
