Comment: Indeed. Roll on those mid winter depressions - as long as their centres track to the south of us!

Comment: nice site. good to see you showing everyone that we keep it real round here as far as snowsports are concerned. haven't ridden all the areas yet, but those i have are just dandy, rain or shine. keep up the good work and roll on those midwinter low pressure systems...

Comment: A quick update of Working party news.
The snow fences have now been dismantled at Raise for the summer. A condition of the Planning permission requires the club to remove them at the beggining of May. They are normally put up again in early November. A new cable for the tow will shortly be delivered by helicopter. The old cable was taken off, cut up and removed from the mountain at the weekend.

Comment: Check out Environmental Change Network site on www.ecn.ac.uk/online_aws/ for hourly weather reports from their AWS - at Moor House - only 2 miles from Yad Moss and importantly the same altitude. Whilst not quite a webcam their site does have a weekly photo looking towards Great Dun Fell which is useful.

Comment: As a skier of 30+ years who will retire to my holiday cottage in St Johns in the Vale in 2004, I was naturally aware of the tow on Raise. I had no idea that there were also permanent tows in the Pennines as well. Thanks for the info. I expect that Raise and the Pennines will see me worrying about what the rocks are doing to my skis before long and having a debate with myself as to whether to keep one pair just for England! Hope to introduce myself to cross country and/or Langlauf once I am l

Comment: Excellent site at least now when people don't believe me that I learned to ski in England on snow I can send them here. On a historical note there were several small portable tows run at sites in teesdale during the 60s and 70s, at least one of these home made contraptions still survives - in storage.
