Comment: My heart goes out to you for the loss of your dear mother. I'll never forget our travels together and I know how much she played a special role in your life and also how much the distance, actual and figurative, pained you. Mothers are unique and irreplaceable. There can be no words
to express the great vacuum that arises in one's life with their loss. Take the time you need to heal. We will join our prayers to yours on her behalf.

Comment: She was a warm, vibrant person who immediately made me feel welcome. Her spirit was youthful, alive,& interested. Mila was so delighted when she displayed her dancing ability. I also recall her entertaining a younger relative who sought her advise on business & she was reveling on her role of mentor.

Comment: In February this year, while staying at the Mandarin Hotel in Makati, Rob and I noticed that a big celebration was going on at lunch in one of the banquet rooms. The sign at the door said "Birthday Party for Concepcion Manguerra. We peeped inside to see if you were there, because we wanted to meet your mother. But not seeing you, we missed the opportunity. Cecilia, your mother is not really gone forever. She has only gone ahead of us to our Father's house, where we will all reunite someday in pe

Comment: What I remember of your mom is that she was dancingest. A wonderful, loving woman, too, that's how I remember her when I interviewed her for an article I wrote about Parian then and now. But what sticks in my head is that she could dance the night away, from one music to another and another. I was in one of her birthday parties and I couldn't greet her when I came in because she was still dancing her heart out (and the party was in full swing outside the house). I'm sure her wholeheartedness did

Comment: Dearest Cecilia and Family,

My condolences and prayers to you at this solemn time.

What is Dying?

A ship sails and I stand
Watching till she fades on
The horizon and someone at my
Side says, "she is gone." Gone where?

Comment: At your launching in La Solidaridad, your mom not only greeted me affectioately but also asked me how old I was. I made her guess and she said 36. I reminded her that we were the same age and that we were already in our 40s (we may have been 43 or so). She told me "you will always look 36 to me." That made my day! Whenever I feel that age is creeping up on me, I remember Tita Iton and what she told me that day. The memory still makes me smile and feel good!

Comment: Dear Cecilia, your mother lived a full life indeed. You wrote about her so lovingly in your own inimitable style of story telling prose.

We shall always cherish them ...even in memory but not more than they always have (us) in their lifetime.
