Comment: I am the youngest daugter of Calvin King! He was on the Bushnell from 1968 to 1970. He passed away in 1997. I found this website and was so proud to find my father's name. I would love to hear from anyone who knew my dad.

Comment: I served aboard the Bushnell from 1959 to 1960 and worked in the gyro shop for cheif Snyder the best cheif I ever knew. The one thing that sticks in my mind was that she was a great feeder we always tried to get back from liberity in time for mid-rats.

Comment: Shipmates, there is a movie star in our midst. Dennis "Austin " Hill DCFN 1968-1970 Bushnell Carpenter Shop, has been featured in several movies, the latest being " Return of a Red Headed Stranger ", starring Willie Nelson. It being a Western, it also starred R.G.Armstrong. Dennis is the brother with the red shirt who get 's shot at the end.

If you tell the NAVY to secure a building they will turn off the lights and lock the door.
If you tell the ARMY to secure a building, they will occupy it and forbid entry to those without a pass.
If you tell the Marines to secure a building, they assault with heavy fire, capture the building,fortify it and call for an air strike.
If you tell the AIR FORCE to secure a building,they will negotiate a three year lease with an option to buy.

Comment: I am going through my grandfather,Ellsworth Bond Dennis' service records and find that he served as an MM1 on the USS Bushnell from Dec 1915 to April 1917. I would be interested in any communication that could help me fill in details of his service. I certainly would like to see his name posted as a member of those on eternal patrol. I myself am a retired AF Master Sgt. We have a strong and continuing tradition of military service in my family.
