Comment: Several of my ancestors served in the Union Army during the Civil War, including Col. John O'Mahony, commanding officer of the 99th Regiment of the New York National Guard, the founder of the Fenian Brotherhood. I enjoyed visiting your site and I will return.

Comment: I need a little info. My wife was given a large framed what looks like a coat of arms.It was from her Great-Great Grandfather Uel Freeman. It's a Blue shield with a red cross across it. On the cross it says Army of the Potomac. On a small scroll it says Acting Aid to General Hooker Aug.5 1862. It has Post 27 GAR, Department of New Jersey. It lists the battles that he was in with the 6th Independent Battery Light Artillery Company "K" Any Help about this Shield and Info on Uel Freeman Would be
