i also "visited" robert shaw and glaisdale ī69-73.
i suppose i must have been on the balcony during
your first year, or skiving from corridor duty.
i remember trying to fly with niel tomlin and mick
eaton on the playing field hill during the greatcoat
days. although it was very windy we didnīt manage
to take off.....and other memorys come flooding back.

Comment: I lived at 10 Hague Terrace Radford until the early 60s. My grandmother was Ethel Hopps. At this time Radford was still a district full of cobbled streets and gas lights. I too remember the cinema on Ilkeston road, La Roches and Dobbs cycle shop. On Ilkeston Road there used to be a greengrocers shop which had a bookmakers business in the back room before the "Turf accountants" shop was opened. Comment: I was born on Bovil Street, Radford and lived there till I was 18 then we moved up to Strelly, where my Mom still lives, 174 Bilborough Road. I got married in 1960 to a Canadian Airman. I have just gone thru your pics and they are wonderful. Mom is sending me the book. Thanks for the memories. My Dad worked at the Raleigh for many years and I attended Bentinck Road school from the age of 5 to 15. Comment: I used to work at Jersey Kapwood, Alfreton Road in the mid sixties. I worked in the Quality Control Dept.
I have found your site very interesting and it has brought back many memories.
Lots of the people I worked with came from the Radford area although I came from Mapperley every day on my motorbike (Velocette Venom).
I used to 'go out' with a girl (Brenda Brown)from the Denmen Street area for some time and was fairly familiar with the area at that time.
