Comment: My interest in Mauchline is that my wife is descended from James Mair, farmer at Stairhill. Her Great Grandfather was James Mair, born at Stair 12 Jan 1842, who went on to become Schoolmaster at Dreghorn. Two of his brothers became Presbyterian Ministers. We still have in our house the original family longcase clock, built by Montgomery Ferguson of Mauchline who died in 1862.
Name: Mike Masterton

Comment: Disapointed not to see any other Masterton's in the guest book.I don't think they realise that Allan Masterton was a good friend of Rbt Burns. Visited Mauchline in May this year, disapointed the Monument wasn't open, but I'll return. I worked with a John Lawrence who came from Mauchie & appeared on "Who Wants To Be A Million- -aire".I enjoyed my visit despite the Monument being closed. I am Scottish despite living in London.
