Comment: How wonderful that Nordlandslaget finally has its own website! I am an Norwegian history student, and my major project is the history of Nordlandslaget I participated at the stevne in Decorah, Iowa in July 1999, and I was lucky enough to meet quite a few of the members I am, of course, a member myself.

Comment: Hi nice website, I try to get in touch with people who are descendants of "Greenfield" from Willmar, MN. Peter Benjaminsson Greenfield, emigrated from a place called "Grønfjell" from Snåsa near Mo-i-Rana. He emigrated about 1868 and settled in Willmar. My wife is a descendant from his daughter Ellen Dorthea Greenfield. This line can be traced back to 15th Century in Nordland.

Comment: I am going to be looking into passenger lists there, but since both ships travelled only as far as Hull, England, it may be difficult.
I am wondering if the family may have lived on Svalbard or Jan Mayen Island?
Any ideas you have will be very welcome. Thank you for any assistance you can give.
Sincerely,

Comment: was born on a Norwegian island near Finland. The island people suffered from TB and most of them died. When Hannah turned 16 and was free of TB her family shipped her to the US. Her father's name was Edel Andersen, mother Sigurd.
I can find nothing on a town/village of Riepa in Norway, also no North Helgeland, but there are 42 Helgeland farms listed for the 1900 census, none in Finnmark.
Only two ships left Trondheim in 1909, I am goin

Comment: I am embarking on one of those genealogical journeys that have few clues and NO facts.
I have located my Norwegian relatives living and dead in Orkdal and Vang, now I am looking for my 85 year old cousin's mother.
The little information she has is her name was Hannah Andersen, born 26 June, 1893 in Riepa, North Helgeland, Norway. She immigrated to the US in 1909. Now for the story.
Apparently Hannah was
