Comment: Why when i read of the village i grew up in does no one include pictures or dialogue of the oldest house in the village.i grew up in the area and in the old house in tisbury from 1960's until 1979. people will remember we had a MONKEY in the house. The house is mentioned in the domesday book and is older than the church, originally called the green man as a pub, prior to that a monastary with an undergroung tunnel to the nunnery at the bottom of the hill.please do the village justice and not just m

Comment: Hello, great that you are advertising A Tisbury History - Please note that UK residents can also get details of the book from Chris Drury (brother) at ChristoDrury@aol.com.
I receive so many questions (and orders for the book) from throughout the world, so it is good to have a site to refer people to, particularly to trace old friends and lost relatives.
Thanks for the great site!

Comment: Hi,
Very interesting. I clicked on the book but nothing happened. My ancestors left Tisbury for Canada in 1884. I have traced them back as far as Tisbury but not able to find them in your fair town.
The surname is "Viney" if anyone knows anything of them, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Comment: I was brought up in Tisbury from 1947 to 1959. Your photograghs show the house that I lived in for many years and the house that I was born in - known as The Shop in Church Street was owned by my grandfather Henry James Penny - is just out of shot. I am now doing a lot of family research so I revisit Tisbury quite frequently.
