Comment: Hi Patrice, Back after several years -- to send the info to my daughter. My mother, Jewell Holmes (Brant) (1901-1998) was the youngest of 7 children of Richard Price Holmes and Rosa Noell Holmes. All the children, Mabel, Noel, Horace, Hugh, Lloyd, Vallie and my Mom attended the SeventySix school. The family lived in the farmhouse my grandfather built for them, on the land he farmed. In 1999 that 13 room house with front porch still stood.

Comment: Patrice, You may not remember me but my father Patrick Hughey logged your property at 76. We lost dad on April 13, 2009. I remember your house on top of the bluff with fond memories. I am trying to find some pictures of the town other than what few I have found on the internet. I hope all is well with you and your family.

Comment: My father, Alfred L. Sadler, was born in Seventy Six. His mother's maiden name was Eva Swan. I can remember visiting my grandparents at an early age. My father would park the car in the yard of a family named Schnarr (sp?) and we would walk up a hill, through the woods until we reached the clearing where my grandparents lived. I have memories of the general store. Not much down there now, but still beautiful country!

Comment: I own a small parcel of land approximately one mile north of Seventy-Six near the old mansion site that I purchased in 1975 from th Hughey Family. The Hugey Family purchased the land from Lucie A.(Parker)May in 1964. I am interested in corresponding about history of the area and have read some of your reports...thanks BEN

Comment: Great seeing your website! I have always wondered the history of our name. I am of the Klobe family in Minnesota - John Klobe was my grandfather - He was born probably about 1915, not sure off-hand who his parents were, but he had 10 kids (my dad being one) Glad to see you do this for us Klobe's. I would love to see where the connection is, thanks...John

Comment: Dear Patrice,
Just wanted to let you know that McPike Mansion has a new web page at www.mcpikemansion.com.
Also a friend and I were reading the mansion abstract and William Wilkinson and Jennie McPike Wilkinson borrowed $1300 on some property left to Jennie by her dad in 1911. In 1912, she and William were divorced. Did she remarry? Are there any living relatives from that union. I know there had 3 and 1 survived. I have searched and cannot find her death date. Any info.would help.
