Comment: Yes that's the same Johnny Beatson. Unfortunatley he passed away a few years ago. I do remember when my sister was closing one of the doors at the Studio, it was a glass pane well it shattered and cut the artery of her left hand ...the blood was gushing anyway Johnny Beatson run over to help with a bottle of whiskey which he poured over the cut. Yes there were a few screams.

Comment: With regards to Beatson's shop on George Street which I spotted the other day, is that the same Johnny Beatson who played The sax with the Meltones.They used to play in the old Pavilion in the 50's, great nights they were too !!!

Comment: Peter Turner :Thanks,i remember having a look at the picture in the Lorne when Jim Campbell had the pub,I dont know if it is still there,but now that it has changed hands again,i will be going back in,so i will have a closer look at it,if its there.I will let you know.

Comment: ALLAN the hen run did belong to hughie wallace when he owned the lorne bar next to the lorne was hays garage then ewan camerons builders yard then the existing car park that was destined to be a cinema dont know the history of why it dident come about there is an old picture of old dunoon in the lorne bar hope it dosent get thrown out when it changes hands?

Comment: MARJI hi marji i think we just missed each other i went to the masonic dances just prior to 1952 was called up for the army that year my mate john hyland used to fancy mrs stewarts drummers daughter moira peebles we used to get dragged in whether we wanted to go or not just to see moira happy days

Comment: Alan, there was petrol station and repair shop next to the Lorne and on the other side was the lane and then a hen run beside that at the corner.I remember having to get hoisted up on the wall to feed the hens.

McKillops garage was where the American navy "Y' was and then he moved it to the top of Wellington st. i remember when the Hillman Imp came out he hired the Queens hall one Sat to showcase the new car, a lot of oooohs and aaaaaahs were heard that day as locals took in all the wonderous features of this radical new mode of transport.
