Comment: Living within sight of Mow Cop I see it in all its moods. As a landscape painter in pastels I have painted it many times for a number of people. It remains my best seller- keep up the folly National Trust!

Comment: This is wonderful site. My Great Grandfather was from Mow Cop. He was Herbert Dale born 1889, his parents were George and Sarah. I anyone knows about this family please mail me above. My Herbert died before I was born. So information is hard to find.
This looks like a great place to grow.

Comment: I used to live in Biddulph 73-74 and was telling my son of the summer days when we wlaked up to Mow Cop and played for hours in and around the castle. He told his class so they interviewed me about it. You should be getting a bunch of hits from 8 year olds in Los Angeles asking all about it. This is a fantastic site thanks for bringing back some fantastic childhood memories

Comment: Very informative as I am currently doing a school project on it and I must have printed off at least 17 pages. WELL DONE!!
P.S. We're very impressed with the up to date pictures of the castle with its scaffolding - looks just the same as it does from our house in Newchapel!

Comment: My great uncle Leonard Moorhouse and his wife Sheila were teachers and lived in Mow Cop. They emigrated to Canada, with their three children, around 1970 to teach in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Most of the Moorhouse family lived in Leek, Staffs, and are related to the Foresters, Goodwins, and Clemeshas of the area. Very nice Site....good job!

Comment: Hi all, I'm now living back in Satffordshire, and take a weekly jaunt up to Mow Cop.
I was wondering though, does anyone know about a cave that leads from part of the Congleton Road Ridge and what would appear to be the remains of a stone circle??? A friend has asked me to find out, if this is part of the National Trust land, or what as it appears to be on "no mans land"??? If someone could get back to me on this one, then I'd be most greatful.
