Comment: Mr. Hughes, I was in CSANT Cardiology today and was speaking with the office manager and saw you walk by with your hat on. I guess after I left John got your card for me and later on gave it to me. I just want to say thank you for all you and your fellow men did for our country, you are true heroes! I would love to get a chance to meet you one day. You ought to let me know next time you will be going into the doctor's office. I would be honored to take you to lunch! God Speed!

Comment: I have been checking the "In Memory" page from time to time looking, and hoping not to find, the name James Oberto my long-time ago high school band director and trombone teacher. Alas! I found him this trip. I have nothing but fond memories of MR "O" and I hope that his family accedrf to his wishes that his ashes be returned to the USS Utah so he could re-join his old trombone he left in his locker that fateful day. Comment: I first saw the UTAH IN 1976, THEN IN 2002 & NEXT WEEK WE WILL VISIT IT AGAIN WHILE ON VACATION. ANY ONE WHO SERVED OR WILL SERVE IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY SHOULD VISIT PEARL HARBOR!! & IT SHOULD BE TAUGHT IN SCHOOL.

Comment: I forgot to add this in my last post. I found my Pop in the Utah crew photo that was taken in San Diego. He was 25 years old when the photo was taken and already had been in the Navy for 8 years. Now that I see his rating he only has one stripe. That is only third class.

Comment: My father served on the Utah from 31 to 35. I believe that he may have been a bosuns mate 1st. Anyway I have a photo of him running the Captain's gig while the Utah was in Long Beach CA. Pop also was at the helm on one of the Panama c*** crossings. My father was Hans K Kittel. He may have gone by Karl or even Tex. If anyone reads this and remembers him please email me. Pop passed two years ago at the age of 97. The USS Utah was the best duty he had in his 30 year navy career.

Comment: When I visited Pearl Harbor, I noticed the wreck of what I now know to be the USS Utah on the aerial map they gave. However, this ship was not mentioned what so ever on the tour or anywhere else that I could see. It became somewhat of a mystery to me. I found it a shame that it seems to be hidden from the public. Thank you for creating this site because it answered a lot of questions I had. I think this ship is an important part of Pearl Harbor history and should be more publicized.

Comment: Many of my uncles were in the military and some of them never came home one is buried at Pear Harbor and I am so proud of them so I guess I just wanted to say THANK YOU!
Thank you for giving me a place to honor my family and Thank you to every one who was and is in the US military. Pearl Harbor was a day that changed the lives of many.

Comment: I think this is really cool. I love to learn about history like wars and sunken ships like the ***anic. There should be alot more of these kind of sites so everyone can enjoy looking up history. Thanks for putting this website in!
