Comment: Thank you for an interesting website. I was at the USS Utah Memorial last Thursday, August 19,2004 to attend a burial service for my brother-in-law, Hank Freitas, who was on the USS Tangier on Dec.7,1941 and was a longtime PHSA member and officer. His wish was to have his cremains placed near where the Tangier was tied up, next to the Utah. The service was conducted on the memorial by Navy and PHSA members.What a beautiful memorial to those who served our country.

Comment: Lt. John Edward Black was the oldest brother of my mother Edith Black Bruce. My oldest son is John Edward Black Bruce. In 1966 I transferred on to the Coast Guard cutter Minnetonka so I could make the cruise to where my uncle had given his life. For many years I have wondered if there was anyone still alive who my uncle had helped to save when the Utah went down, or anyone who had known him. I wish I had known about this website long ago.

Comment: My Uncle and Godfather Thomas C. Molay's ashes will be placed on the Utah this December 6th 2004. I hope to make the trip as proxy for my father, his older brother who is still living in Hillsboro Oregon.

Comment: I have just acquired a Colt .45 Auto that was issued to Ens. Tom M. Anderson on 26 Dec. 1941. I am sure is is the same Ens. Anderson that was the OOD on the Utah during the attack on 7 Dec. Does anyone have any information on Ens. Anderson after his service on the Utah?

Comment: Very moving and very humbling. I can't begin to imagine where we get such men as these. They fought back with what they had and didn't give up in the face of such terible odds. God bless all of the men who were lost on that day and all that survived to bring victory.
