Comment: My late father served on-board June '39 to Nov '41
progressing from 2nd class Phm to 1st Class. This was after assignaments on the Pensacola, Rigel, Lexington and prior to his commission on the PC 579. After commisionin he participated in the invasion of Saipan and creation of the military Govt. Later he helped forumlate the DT rating group retiring as W4 DSC in 1960 after 30+ years.

Comment: A photographer shared a picture of the ship taken in a recent trip to Hawaii. He said that no one knew anything about the ship, so I researched it and found the sites, including this one, that reference the history of the USS Utah. Having been an Infantryman and a Navy Reservist and worked in Public Affairs for the Army and the Air Force, I consider it an honor to set people straight whenever I can. I forwarded the links.

Comment: My wife and I visited Hawaii in March and did not realize that there was a memorial as important as the Arizona that we had missed. We will make it a point to visit the Utah Memorial if we are able to come to Hawaii again.
