Comment: My father, Eugene Seltzer was on this ship at 17 years old. Perhaps it was the trauma of this war experience in his life that made him unable to cope as a father of 4 children, and still unable to cope with his 2 living children and grandchildren. His suffering continues as he shuts out those who love and care about him and clings to his identification as a seaman in the Navy on the USS UTAH's tragic event that continues to effect his family tree. May Peace Prevail on Ear

Comment: One of the main reasons for coming to Hawaii was to visit the Utah. I was not aware until I arrived that there could be problems in doing that. I feel that because of its remote, secure, location that many people do not realize the sacrifice that was made by the members of her crew.
Some system needs to be set up so that more people can learn of the ship, her crew and be able to honor them.

Comment: My Granddad was on the Utah. I love him very much and am proud to say he runs this website. I wasn't there, but I will certainly not forget what happened at Pearl Harbor and those who died and survived.

Comment: I'm currently in the Navy. My grandfather was a survivor of the USS Utah. Sea2/c Calvin F. Lincoln. Thought I would drop by and check out this site. I found it informative and in excellent taste.

Comment: We just returned from our first visit to Hawaii and Pearl Harbor. We had no idea there was a memorial to the Utah. I asked the Park Ranger at the Arizona Memorial if we could visit the Utah Memorial, and she said "Are you active military? If not, write your congressperson!" She did offer to take us over, but wasn't able to do so that day. The information on this website is helpful; we'll have to make use of it next time.

Comment: My Dad,LTjg John (Jack) K. Lowe, retired from the Navy in 1946. He and one of the UTAH survivors, CBM Roland Faulk, were shipmates and very good friends when both were aboard the Battleship Mississippi.I have a picture of me, my Dad and CWO4 (Bos'n) Faulk taken in 1955. Ahhh the sea stories those two could (and did) tell. My Dad pulled shells aboard the Mississippi and Mr. Faulk was the coxwain/coach. My Dad never had much use for the right arm rates, but he did make an exception for his buddy.

Comment: My husband, FC1 Wright is proudly stationed on the USS Chosin homeported at Pearl Harbor, HI. We have been here for over a year and a half, not knowing about the USS Utah Memorial. I assure you, it's an oversight that will soon be corrected. Thank you for this wonderful website, and the information you've provided! God Bless you all!

Comment: I am from Utah. My seven year old son asked me this morning what World War II was, so I turned to the internet to help answer. I stand in awe of this site. You've honored the USS Utah, which often gets overlooked. But even more extraordinary, you've found a patriotic way to honor her crew, not only their death's, but their lives as well. Thank you so much.
