Comment: I am just begining research of my great uncle who was a WWI navy vet. He served on the Utah aprrox 1921-1922, based on old letters I am archiving. His name was David Boyd.

Comment: My beloved Grandfather was on the Utah on Dec.7, 1941. After Pearl Harbor he continued to serve in the Navy, fought in Korea and became a Chief Petty Officer. He was Phillipino and had some struggles during WW2 because of his appearence...thankfully it didn't stop him!!! I am so proud to be his granddaughter!!!

Comment: thank you for all the info on the uss utah how sad they just let it lay there and rust away it not far from shore with modern tecknowldge why dont they jusr pulled it to shore and bury the sailors in a descent grave and pay honor to the ship in a few years it will rust away and sink and probably will never be remebered sue price

Comment: Thank you for the infomation given here for my 6th grade school report. It also allowed me to recieve more information about my great,great grandpa from my grandpa. My dad, grandpa, great, great grandpa have all been in the military as well as many great uncles and my grandmas and mom have helped too. I take pride in what they have all done for me to live in the USA.

Comment: What a great web site and tribute to all of the sailors that sailed on the USS Utah. My uncle Leslie Wilson, reportedly served aboard the Utah (AG16) for an unknown period in the early '30s . However I haven't found any ship rosters from that time period to confirm. As the lone surviving direct family mamber I've been attempting to get the facts. If anyone has an early '30s roster or knows how/where to look for one please drop me an e-mail. Don Wilson

Comment: My father, Christopher Columbus Wyatt, was a Seaman 1c, Navy deck force, on the Utah's European cruise from July 1921 - August, 1922. He has a beautiful pamphlet titled, "Chronicle of the European Cruise of the U.S.S. Utah 1921-22" which not only tells a wonderful story of it's travels, but lists all ports visited, officers and deck/engineering forces, Marine detachment, as well as distinguished visitors who came aboard. I'd love to share this w/your website somehow.

Comment: Very good Web page. I am a survivor of the USS Underhill DE 682. I live in Utah, and learned a lot from reading about the USS Utah. My Uncle,
Robert Etherington served aboard Utah in the early 1930's.
