Comment: I too am an openly gay ex servicemen I also subscribe to the Army Rumour Service. www.arrse.co.uk and have been "sausage side" with a few of the lads on there.

Recently I've been getting quite a lot of abuse about cross dressing as well. People are saying that a 6'3, 16 stone flabby bloke shouldn't be trying to squeeze into a size 12 cocktail dress. I just think that they've got no imagination.

Comments please?

They are currently running a poll and a thread as to wether or not we should be allowed to serve in the forces. There is alot of banter and abuse on there but we could do with a bit of support and give as much as we recieve or we will look a bunch of drips with no courage in our convictions

Comment: Just thought I'd write a dit in here too to encourage any young homosexuals in the Services that coming out does not cause any problems. I'm 22 so still young(ish) and in the Navy. I’m now at my fifth unit; each of which I have come out in. I have had no trouble from anybody, in fact many of my straight friends in the Navy have been very supportive. It seems to me that the services reflect society in general in that people will respect you more if you can have the confidence to come out.

Comment: Great to see so many new people find the AFLAGA Website. The Portsmouth Meet has changed venue to Hampshire Boulevard (first Wednesday of the month) all welcome member or not.

There is a new pace of change in all of the Services at the moment and I hope that all serving personnel are begining to find serving and being gay a little easier (but I also understand that there is a long way to go). I am always interest to hear individual ideas about what could be done to help lesbians an

Comment: I was dismissed from the military after 10 years service, but have since re-enlisted. I am out at work, because I didn't see the point of going back unless I could be the real me. I'm pleased to say that I've had no problems so far. Keep up the good work AFLAGA, I'm keeping a close eye on policy changes, especially with regard to unmarried partners' rights. The housing issue is of particular interest as it would not just affect same-sex couples, but straight unmarried couples too.
