Comment: Just as his Rachmaninoff preludes gave us the best available version, Rustem Hayroudinoff has now given us the best integral etudes-tableaux, joining the exalted ranks of Sofronitski, Richter, and the composer himself, and with his own illuminating notes reprinted from his Wigmore Hall recital last year. Those lucky enough to hear him at Wigmore on December 21, 2006, may be privileged to hear more. (Chandos 10391)

Comment: Your Shostakovich Theatre Music on Chandos is brilliantly played and very funny. The chases, dead-pan marches and silent-movie vamps are hilariously realised and beautifully recorded. I have worn out several pairs of shoes listening to this CD.
