Comment: This is a great website, brings back fond memories. I lived in Lowick from 1932 – 1955, my family were in the bakery business owning Mabons bakery on Main Street, my father was Abraham Mabon commonly known as Ray. It has been great to read comments from the Stark family – who were neighbours of ours, and Foreman family - who my father bought his meat from. I remember during the war Jim Foreman would come up to our house and kill our pigs and cure the bacon for us twice a year!

Comment: Thank you for a wonderful glimpse into past and present Lowick. Having recently traced my family history to Lowick over several generations where the Moore (Moor) family were entrenched from the early 1800's, it brought it all to life for me. If anyone has any information regarding the Moore (Moor) family and if there are still members living there I would be most interested to hear from anyone with any information. Many Thanks for a wonderful journey through Lowick, Maureen Barrass nee Moore

My family and I are moving to haggerston very soon and my son is attending Lowick first school. Just a quick query are there any village kids christmas parties? Maybe in the 'local' or community centre?
Many Thanks

Comment: Many fond memories of Lowick in the early 60s. Does anyone know of Esther Moffat (mother of Elizabeth "Ella")? Does anyone know the location of the farm where she lived? if so send me an email. TIA.

Comment: Visited Lowick today - it has changed but not a lot and is still friendly.
Really appreciated the pictures of Old Lowick - as I used to know it. Think I reccognise an uncle or two on the horses!

Comment: I enjoyed reading and seeing some aspects of your village. I particularly enjoyed the photo's of the Scotch presbyterian church.. as my Gt Gt Gt Grandfather was christened there in 1815. His father was working at Berrington.
Anyway.. the people maintaining this site are to be commended.. it was informative and yet enjoyable.

Comment: Great website. Navigates well. I particularly liked the images. Perfect for those of us who love Lowick and want to be reminded of its many delights. Lowick is the perfect gateway to the many wonders of Northumberland but stay in Lowick. Walk where the Romans once walked. Look for the cup and ring marked stones. Once upon a time there were 4 working collieries sufficient for a railway spur to be considered (Check out Ford Moss) A working community made Lowick and left it for us to enjoy. Keith

Comment: My parents, Jim and Peg, used to run the White Swan in the mid 1960s. Mum died in 2008 but dad is till going strong. My sister Diane and I returned for a drink in the Swan in summer 2008.
During student vacations, I used to work in the Swan and and I was holiday relief roundsman for Mabon's bakery. My cousin (Carol Waugh) and her delightful family live in the village.
I have very fond memories of the village and of its folk.
