Comment: I served on the BIG D FROM 66-70. The Dutchman's Dock is one great site. Wally do you remember the trip to DC in your Sunliner when it started to rain and the top wouldn't go up. Billy Clay do youn remember when you and I dropped Bank's gear into the water on the way to the Med. Take it easy all you Gators

Comment: I also left the 1171 the day before it's Great Lakes Cruise.
But I did revisit it in Erie Pa when it stopped there. I was an EM3 on board. Served as chiefs mess until I made 3rd. Was aboard during the Cuban Crisis and during the stopover in Panama

Comment: AMERICAN FLAG RETIREMENT
Please, don't throw that American flag into the trash!
Do you have a old, frazzled flag that's no longer fit for display, that's laying around your office or home and you just don't know what to do with it? Then send it to us! We will properly dispose of it according to federal laws.

Comment: Served from Aug,67 to April,68. I remember John Conway from the gunnery division as well as some of the office staff. While I learned a lot about being a sailor on board the DC, I must say, It was also a very difficult time for me as well. Being on that ship help me to grow up in so many ways.

Comment: I served on the DeSoto County only for 6 months as a BM3. I was in the deck division and remember BM1 Odier, and BM3 Baird. I always wondered what happend to these guy's. I enjoyed my time so much during that six months that I requested and was subsequently transferred to Swiftboats in Vietnam.
