Comment: Dear all,
I have organised a month in a company in Southampton UK for a young french engineering student, son of a friend of mine. This will be from February 7 until March 6, 2010. This young gentlemen is a passionate hockey player, and, as far as I can judge, reasonably good at it. COuld he train with your team during his period in Southampton? Sorry for the short notice of this demand.
Thanks in advance for your kind reply
Best regards
François Bopp

Comment: Oh my god I have just stumbled on this site and it has brought a tear to my eye! I used to skate 4-5 times a week at the old rink (Good job my dad my a cabbie). I have been reminiscing all week bout the old days as my partner will be treating me and taking me skating in Gosport next week for the first time in 20yrs. God I hope I dont make a fool of myself lol! Anyway I just wanted to say hi to you all and that I am 100% behind your campaign and always have been since the suits shut us down.

Comment: My family and I are relocating to Southampton after living in the USA for over 20 years. As a family we regularly ice skate for exercise and for family time. My daughters also find skating a fun social experience that they can do with their friends. They skate with both hockey and figure skates. To us skating on indoor and outdoor rinks has been fun and a welcome alternative to the TV. We also enjoy watching hockey games. I strongly support you efforts to bring skating to Southampton.

Comment: It would be great to have an Ice Rink back in Southampton, before im too old to play. As going to Basingstoke 2 or 3 times a week to play or practice gets very expensive.

Comment: Also it was a shame my dad was left of the history of the Rink and Vikings, as he played alongside Pete Murrey, Pete Lane, Tony Highmore, Bob Turnbull, Alan Hindmarch.

Comment: Hi to all ex Southampton Vikings, Knights and Redwings. There was alot of superb childhood memories from the rink. Thanks to my dad Derek I played the greatest sport in the world. He was a great teacher, coach and mentor for me and im sure alot of others that were taught by him would agree. It was one of the worst days in my life when the closed even though I was 8. I have alot if photos at home from my dads era of playing through to the fianl few days.
